Reitox Regional Academy for IPA4 beneficiaries 'Drug law offences in the Western Balkan region: from definition to monitoring' 2014

Objective of the seminar

This 2-day seminar aims to: 

  • exchange information between participants and the EU experts on drug laws in their respective countries (what the laws says and how they are implemented);
  • exchange information on control of new psychoactive substances;
  • exchange information on how drug laws and drug law offences are monitored/ and data are collected and reported.

Expected outcomes: 

  • improved knowledge on basic elements of drug laws in IPA beneficiary countries;
  • mapping of drug laws with an intent to produce a summary publication on drug law index;
  • first attempt to fill-in the EMCDDA standard data collection tables on drug law offences.

Target audience

The Reitox Academy aims to bring together experts having  the knowledge and experience to provide a reliable picture on legal framework controlling drugs and its implementation in their country (more lawyer than law enforcement); and also experts having  knowledge on how statistical information on drug-law offences are collected, aggregated, defined; including data on arrests, prosecutions, sentencing etc. 

Invited countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo*. The invitation to attend the seminar will be extended also to organisations in some EU Member States involved in discussion and analysis of drug-law frameworks in the region.
